American Angus Association plans for 124th Annual Meeting

American Angus Association members will meet during the 2007 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), Nov. 10-13 in Louisville, Ky. A full slate of educational and social activities is planned for attendees to the American Angus Association’s 124th Annual Convention of Delegates and the 2007 Super Point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus Show. Several new activities and a change of venue at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center (KFEC) for the meetings are planned this year.
Registration for the event will begin Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Executive West Hotel, and will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., that day. Registration will also be available Sunday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Monday from 7 to 10 a.m. All delegates and Angus guests can pick up their name badges, show passes and purchase banquet tickets at the registration desk.
The Angus Foundation will host its Supporter Recognition Event and Fundraiser on Saturday evening starting at 6 p.m. at the Executive West. The recognition event is by invitation to those who have contributed $250 or more to the Angus Foundation during this fiscal year.
Numerous activities occur on Sunday, Nov. 11, including the junior Angus heifer show in Freedom Hall. This year the Association and its entities will conduct educational seminars during the day at its new meeting location in the KFEC South Wing C – upper level. The Angus seminars will be held Sunday morning and Sunday after the educational program; Monday morning and after the Annual Meeting; and Tuesday morning.
The American Angus Auxiliary will hold its annual breakfast at the Executive West at 8 a.m., on Sunday. Tickets for the breakfast are $15, and can be purchased by contacting Sandra McCurry at 316-304-5973 or by e-mail at sandramccurry3@aim.com.
Sunday’s activities conclude at the Executive West. The Angus reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
On Monday, Nov. 12, the Super Point ROV Angus Show will begin at 8 a.m. in Freedom Hall. Quintin Smith, Lebanon, Tenn., is evaluating the cattle. Bulls and cow-calf pairs will show on Monday. The 2008 Miss American Angus will be chosen from a group of five candidates selected by the American Angus Auxiliary prior to the selection of champion bull.
This year’s banquet will feature Certified Angus Beef® product sponsored by U.S. Premium Beef. Red Steagall, cowboy, poet and singer will provide entertainment at the banquet. Inductees into the Angus Heritage Foundation will be honored, and the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) Outstanding Leadership Award winner also will be recognized during the banquet.
The 2007 Super Point ROV Angus female show will begin at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Freedom Hall.
In addition to the scheduled events, the Angus Foundation, Auxiliary, and 2008 National Junior Angus Show hosts will sell a variety of items in the Holiday Room at the Executive West.
