Rural Tourism Site Expanding

Nov 26, 2007 2:48 PM

Country-Adventures, a Nebraska online rural tourism site, was awarded $72,318 through a USDA Rural Business Opportunity Grant (RBOG) to expand into other states. The site, http://www.country-adventures.com features over 200 rural offerings, including hunting, fishing, farmer-for-a-day experiences, vineyard tours, and country lodging. The site has grown quickly over its nearly one-year period online.

“This program is on its way to emerging as the national online mall for rural tourism,” says Marge Lauer, Project Director and CEO for Country Adventures. With the RBOG funds, Country-Adventures staff will train and assist rural residents in Utah and South Dakota with identifying, developing, and marketing their resources to generate ag tourism revenue.

Country-Adventures was created to affordably and easily allow farmers and ranchers the ability to make extra income with resources they already own, and, at the same time, connect the public to the opportunity to experience the enjoyment of the country and outdoor adventures.

“The public is craving the open country, yet having a difficult time finding those experiences because so much of the land and resources are privately owned,” said Lauer. Check it out at http://www.country-adventures.com.
